AGANA 10 October 2018 – A high-level delegation from the Philippine Army (PA) visited Guam from 30 September to 02 October 2018 and conducted a lecture on the liberation of Marawi City at the Guam National Guard (GUNG) and the University of Guam (UOG).

Consul General Marciano R. de Borja, who was recently donned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Philippine Army Reserve Force at ceremonies held on 27 September 2018 in Manila, welcomed the delegation members upon their arrival in Guam on 30 September 2018.

The PA officials had a full program during their two-day visit, starting with a lunch hosted by the Ilocano Association of Guam led by its president Imelda Gines at Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort followed by a visit to the Official Residence of the Consul General in Jonestown.

Two members of the delegation, Colonel Orquia and Colonel Balaoro, appeared on the “Kumusta Kabayan,” a regular radio show on KTKB 101.9 MEGAMIXX FM which airs Sundays co-hosted by Consul Mark Francis C. Hamoy.

The delegation called on Guam National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Roderick R. Leon Guerrero. GUNG officials gave a briefing on its organization and activities, while Lt. Gen. Pamonag delivered the lecture on the liberation of Marawi City at GUNG Headquaters.

At the UOG, the delegation called on UOG President Dr. Thomas Krise. UOG’s Philippine Studies Lecture Series hosted the lecture on the liberation of Marawi City attended by a diverse audience from the Filipino community, government of Guam officials, and UOG faculty and students.

Dolina, PA G9 Assistant Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retirees Affairs Colonel Royland M. Orquia, PA G5 Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans Colonel Cerilo C. Balaoro Jr., and PA Aide-De-Camp to the Commanding General Major Marlon F. Reyes Jr. II.

A Legislative Resolution was presented to PA Commanding General Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito D. Bautista, received by Lt. Gen. Pamonag by 34th Legislature Senator Frank B. Aguon Jr.

Lt. Gen. Pamonag, an experienced general, was the commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) TRIDENT under the JTF Marawi and eventually became the Commander of JTF Marawi after Lt. Gen. Bautista assumed office as the PA Commanding General. END
